During pregnancy, your body relies on water for additional functions, and not getting enough water can have negative effects on your growing baby. In the early stages of pregnancy, your blood volume expands significantly to supply your baby and the placenta. Water composes the majority of this blood content in the form of plasma. Your baby's amniotic fluid is initially formed from water you drink as well. Symptoms of morning sickness such as vomiting can make you more vulnerable to dehydration.
Heat Regulation
Dehydration can lead to maternal overheating. Water aids in heat regulation for all individuals, but it becomes especially important during pregnancy. Overheating becomes easier during pregnancy because your body is not able to rid itself of heat as easily. In an effort to compensate for this, your body may sweat sooner and more, which means you're also losing extra water. If your temperature increases to 102 degrees or higher, your baby can experience overheating as well. If this happens in early pregnancy, it can lead to neural tube 

Your body uses high amounts of water due to certain conditions during pregnancy. It could result in dehydration if you are not trying to replace the lost fluids.
  1. Morning sickness is the primary cause: About 50% to 80% of pregnant women experience morning sickness, one of the main causes of dehydration. The condition appears during four to six weeks and peaks around 10 to 16 weeks. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, frequent urination and sweating. These symptoms will disappear by the time you reach second trimesters, but in some cases, women continue to have morning sickness beyond second trimester.
  2. Severe morning sickness, also known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum: This is a rare condition which affects around 2% of pregnant women. The symptoms, same as those of morning sickness, remain throughout your pregnancy.
  3. Hyperemesis symptoms also cause a severe loss of water and electrolytes. It leads to fever, associated with nausea and vomiting, causing excessive sweating and dehydration.
    1. Diarrhea: Hormonal changes, dietary habits and aversion to certain foods can lead to diarrhea, especially in the third trimester. This also results in excessive loss of fluids and electrolytes. Replenishing the body after diarrhea is critical.
    2. Lack of enough fluids: During pregnancy, check with your healthcare provider or gynecologist about the best water-intake regime. You need to be careful because excess water can also cause complications. Your water intake level will depend on your trimester, activity level, weight, age, climate and the season. You will be more susceptible to dehydration during the warmer seasons.
    3. Air travel: Air in the cabin contains little moisture, and it can cause dehydration in your body. You should try to stay hydrated by drinking water when traveling. Airline rules may not allow carrying water bottles, but some flight attendants might allow.

My advise
1...   Generally, the first sign of dehydration is feeling thirsty.
2..   People who feel thirsty after sweating, spending long periods of time in the heat, or going for long periods without water are especially likely to be dehydrated.
3...  Signs of dehydration
  • a dry feeling in the throat or mouth
  • dry, chapped lips
  • dry-looking skin
  • less elastic skin that looks sunken or thin
  • less frequent urination
  • dark-colored urine
  • urinating less often
  • not sweating, even in hot weather
  • feeling weak or exhausted
  • constipation, hard stools, and hemorrhoids
  • feeling lightheaded
Some people may experience Braxton Hicks contractions when they are dehydrated.
4...  If you are pregnant you need to drink more water for your body needs and your unborn child's needs.   Your child needs 60% of water for proper development of his brain cells, heart and kidneys.   He also needs water to develop other parts.  So drink sufficient water to protect yourself and your child.
